Woven vs Non-Woven: Selecting the Right Construction

The choice between woven and non-woven interlining should be based on the role the material needs to perform inside the garment. Non woven fusible interlining is generally suited to smaller components where manufacturers need reinforcement without adding excessive bulk or complexity.

A non-woven construction consists of bonded fibres rather than yarns woven together. This makes the material practical for applications such as shirt collars, cuffs, plackets and selected lightweight garment areas. Its structure allows manufacturers to cut precise shapes and fuse them efficiently during production.

By contrast, larger garment panels that need significant tensile strength and dimensional stability may be better served by woven construction. Non woven interlining should therefore not automatically be treated as a replacement for woven grades. The right choice depends on the size of the panel, the weight of the outer fabric and the level of structure required.

When selecting non woven interlining fabric, manufacturers should consider GSM, adhesive performance, fabric compatibility and the intended end use. A sample fuse remains one of the simplest ways to confirm whether the combination delivers the desired result.

For Indian garment manufacturers purchasing at wholesale scale, Double Ghoda provides interlining options for different production requirements. Understanding where each construction performs best allows factories to use woven and non-woven materials strategically, rather than choosing one type for every garment application.
